Directional Drilling

Directional Drilling used to be the answer when normal excavation or trenching didn't make sense. Now however, directional drilling, also known as Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is quickly turning into the best answer in many situations.

Directional drilling provides the ability to install pipes and conduit underground without trenching. A "no dig" trenchless technology does away with surface excavation when placing natural gas, electrical, water lines, and telecommunication lines underground. Various types of pipe can be used for directional drilling including HDPE, mechanical joint PVC, and conventional steel pipe.

HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) can be used in many different types of soil and soil conditions and directional drilling minimizes the environmental impact and the typical costs associated with underground pipe installation.

The Robert Henry Corporation has five different sizes of horizontal directional drilling machines and with our experienced directional drilling operators working on your project, we provide safe, cost-effective, and efficient services for many pipe installation projects. Directional drilling is a superior method in a many situations and allows for installation at lower depths spanning greater distances in challenging situations including:

  • Spanning waterways
  • Tunnelling under roadways
  • Heavily congested areas
  • Already developed areas
  • Sensitive areas environmentally

Directional drilling avoids digging an access pit and the inherent dangers with crews working underground. Want a safe, cost-effective, and practical solution for an underground installation? Contact The Robert Henry Corporation.
